Extra Curricular

Our Enrichment Program at Lumen Christi is a key feature of our school that we are very proud of and are constantly reviewing to enrich the school and life experiences of our students and families.

A significant component of our Enrichment Program are our specialist programs that the students have weekly. Lumen Christi offers five specialist classes including Italian, Performing Arts, Visual Arts, Health & PE and Library. Our Italian Languages program in 2020 will expand to become a school wide approach where the use and development of language will move beyond the weekly Italian class.

Participation in both school and interschool sporting events is part of the proud tradition of Lumen Christi. As a local we participate in all available individual and tam events and over the past years have had individual students participate in higher representative levels. Our staff themselves are involved in many local sporting organisations and we actively promote our students becoming part of one the many local organisations on offer in our community. The Churchill Active Kids initiative is a terrific starting point for families looking for information about the sporting and recreational opportunities available to their children.

Our Camps program offers students the opportunity to experience a wide range of new activities while also providing an environment to enhance and challenge their social and personal skills. Our Year 3/4 students participate in an annual overnight camp at an accredited school camp located in Gippsland, while the Year 5/6 camps involve a two-year rotation between an outdoor education camp and an urban experience in Melbourne.

Excursions and Incursions offer students the chance to experience different curriculum opportunities, often in a more meaningful way than could be delivered in the classroom. All students from Prep to Year 6 participate in a range of class and whole school activities throughout the school year.

Being active in the community is important to Lumen Christi and we take advantage of opportunities to engage with our local community groups by participating in events such as RSL ANZAC & Remembrance Day ceremonies, Churchill Active Kids Expo & Churchill News competitions. We are proud of our relationships with Churchill Vinnies, Churchill News, Churchill Lions and Churchill Apex.

Lumen Christi participates in annual nationwide events that allow our students to participate side by side with fellow students from across the country. These include CBC Book Week, Simultaneous Reading Day and Music:Count Us In.
