Welcome everyone to Term 2.
I hope everyone had a lovely Easter.
Already we can see that this term will be something quite unique, and will probably be one of the most memorable we will face as educators and parents. So the message this morning will be to go gently.
Last term the staff created the blue 'showbags' for families to work through during these first two weeks of Remote Learning, and we now know that this situation will continue for the remainder of the term on the advice of the Federal and State authorities. Moving forward we will be communicating with families the learning plans for each class, including weekly and daily planning sheets.
During the next two weeks we are suggesting that parents spend this time setting the ground work for the term. Following the advice provided by the Catholic Education Office parents are asked to consider (and maybe trial) a range of things that will help your children be successful during this period of Remote Learning.
Think about:
What routines will suit your family?
Where will be the best place for your child to work?
Will all your children work at the same time or will be stagger the time you spend with them?
How long can your child stay on task?
How confident are you that your child has an awareness of safe online behaviours?
As we move through the term we will be adding resources and information to the Remote Learning section of our website. One suggestion is a 'Frequently Asked Questions' section where we seek your questions and provide answers. We ask parents to contribute questions by completing the web-form attached to this newsletter.
So again, I offer the advice to go gently as we move into our new roles. We will have plenty of hits and misses as we work through Remote Learning but rest assured the school staff are determined and capable of guiding us through this.
Wishing you and your family all the best for the term ahead.
Take care,
Dave
