Dear Families,
What a wonderful day we had last Friday for our Athletics Day. It was so great to have our school community together, thank you to all of the parents, grandparents and friends who came along to cheer on the children. Congratulations to all of our Lumen Christi children, who participated beautifully, encouraged their friends and gave their best effort in each event. The honours of the day went to our Gold House Bethlehem Stars, captained by Ollie who was very proud to lift the trophy at the end of the day. A special thank you to our Parents and Friends for organising the Lions Club for the sausage sizzle – everyone loves a sausage in bread, right? And to our amazing teachers who set everything up and ran the activities – there’s a lot of work and organisation that goes into days like these, so the effort is very much appreciated.
It was also great to have parents back on site for Parent Teacher Interviews last week. I heard really positive reports from all of our teachers. It’s good to hear parents are happy and children are making growth in their learning.
We sent home a notice last night with a permission slip to be returned to the school for our promotional video which will be filmed next week. Keep fingers crossed and say prayers for good weather! Please remember to send back the form so your child can take part in the filming.
Please also keep our wonderful Reconciliation children in your prayers, their special evening is coming up next week and we are looking forward to celebrating this special occasion with them.
Have a great week ahead everyone
Sally

Grade 3/4 Environmental Initiative
Grade 3/4s initiative to help the environment!
Grade 3/4 have learnt how the batteries that are not put away safely are causing harm to the Earth. These flat and unwanted batteries can leak chemicals into the environment and poison animals if they are not disposed of correctly. They could even possibly start fires in landfill rubbish if they come in contact with metal and cause poisonous chemicals to spread into the environment.
The 3/4s have leant how to correctly dispose of batteries in a safe manner and have decided as a class, to create a safe battery drop off point for the families of Lumen Christi.
To help support the 3/4 ‘Protect the Earth’ initiative, follow these steps to safely dispose of your unwanted batteries.
- Put sticky tape on the positive and negative sides of the batteries.
- Put them in a plastic bag.
- Bring them to the school office and drop them off in the ‘safe drop off point’
