Dear Families,
Here we are at the final week of term. It’s been a very busy term as usual with lots of wonderful activities for the children. It has also been fantastic to invite parents back to share in many parts of our school life again.
Thank you to everyone who has made me feel very welcome at Lumen Christi. As a new Principal, I greatly appreciate how wonderful everyone has been. I have worked in schools for a very long time and it’s not often you find a school like Lumen Christi with such a great sense of community.
I huge thank you to the people who have formed the Parents and Friends and School Advisory Council. The work that you continue to do for the school is really important and appreciated.
Last Thursday, we had six children from our school and one from another Primary School receive the sacrament of reconciliation at Sacred Heart Church. It was a beautiful celebration and the three schools did a great job running a combined liturgy for the children and their families. Congratulations to Anne, Billy, Eli, Charlotte, Noah and David on their First Reconciliation. Thank you to Mrs Colaciello, Mrs Campbell, Mrs Dyson and Father James for their role in preparing the children for this sacrament.
This week, we will have our annual Passion Play on Wednesday at 2pm in the church. All are welcome, but we must sight vaccination certificates and we ask that all adults wear a mask as although in the church, it is a school activity.
We will also be drawing our Easter raffle at 12pm on Friday. Good luck to everyone who bought tickets. If you have sold your tickets and have money to return to the school, please do this ASAP so that you are in the draw to win a prize. The P&F have done an amazing job putting all the prizes together – they look wonderful.
Easter is our most important celebration in the Catholic calendar. We celebrate at this time, Jesus the Son of God, who died and rose from the dead to fulfil the scriptures who promised a Messiah for the world. All the staff here at Lumen Christi wish our families a very happy and holy Easter time, we thank God for the gift of new life symbolised by all those delicious Easter Eggs that we might eat on Easter Sunday.
Enjoy the Easter Break, we look forward to welcoming everyone back in Term 2.
Sally

From the Parents and Friends - Easter Raffle drawn 12pm Friday
A reminder that raffle tickets are due in on the 6th April. This will be drawn at assembly on the last day of school. The assembly will be in the Courtyard weather permitting or in the eco-centre should it rain.
An outdoor event does not require proof of vaccination however, vaccination mandate rules apply should we need to draw the raffle indoors. We also require masks to be worn indoors.
School finishes at 12:30pm on Friday - parents are welcome to take their children home after the Easter Raffle. Please make sure you tell your child's teacher when you leave. We require written notice for any children going home with any other family than their own. Please ensure hometime arrangements are communicated with your child's teacher if they are going home with someone different on this day.
Vaccinations for all School Volunteers and Parent Helpers
I received communication from DOSCEL last week informing me that all volunteers at the school need to have a third dose of the Covid-19 vaccine.
My apologies for the laste notice in informing the school community that any parent helpers, volunteers and members of either the Parents and Friends or School Advisory Committee must be able to provide evidence of a third vaccination or a lawful exemption effective immediately.
Parent helpers and volunteers are essential in the running of the school. I personally would like to thank all of the people who help keep our school running.
If you are currently volunteering at the school and there is going to be an issue with the capacity to volunteer due to these changes, please contact the school office.
