Dear Families,
Our first week at school has flown by, it’s hard to believe we are in week 2 already.
I know that families will have seen on the news a lot of information about the current wave of Covid-19 that is sweeping the country. At Lumen Christi, we are still operating in a Covid safe environment, encouraging social distancing, hand washing/sanitising and using air purifiers in all classrooms and shared spaces. We will be sending home new boxes of RATs this week. Please continue to monitor all children for any symptoms and keep them at home if they are unwell. This is the recommended course of action. Any children who are a confirmed covid case, must complete their seven days of isolation at home. Many thanks to all of our families for doing their best to ensure that this happens.
Universal Church World Grandparents and Elderly Day 24th of July
Pope Francis has decided to institute the Church-wide celebration of World Day for Grandparents and the Elderly. Starting this year, on the fourth Sunday of July, we will celebrate this day and acknowledge the presence of Grandparents and the Elderly. This day is close to the liturgical memorial of Saint Joachim and Anne, the grandparents of Jesus.
A Prayer for Grandparents:
We acknowledge all the Grandparents and Elderly, especially those from our Lumen Christi Community. May you bless our grandparents with long life, happiness and good health. May they remain constant in your guidance and love and be living signs of your presence to their children and grandchildren.
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen
To celebrate, we are looking forward to welcoming grandparents and special people along to the school on Thursday morning for a breakfast. If there are children who don’t have grandparents who they are able to invite, they are welcome to invite someone else who is a special person in their lives.
Last week, we celebrated out first mass for the term. This was organised by our grade 5/6 students and had a NAIDOC week theme. At Lumen Christi, we do our best to acknowledge and support our Indigenous community by being respectful and inclusive. The grade 5/6s really demonstrated their understanding of how important this is in their mass.
We congratulate Blake Breheny, who competed in the state cross country last week also. Thanks for doing such a wonderful job and representing our school proudly Blake. We are very proud of your achievements.
Please remember to book your times for Parent Teacher Interviews next week via PAM.
Have a wonderful week,
Sally

Ritchie's IGA School Benefits - Please Read
Dear Families,
Each month, the school receives a form of benefit payment from Ritchie's from cutomers who have nominated Lumen Christi as their organisation. Thank you for your support. Please read below the changes that are being made. Customers need to re-nominate Lumen CHritsi via the Ritchie's Card app or online at https://loyalty.ritchies.com.au.
FROM RITCHIE's
Please note, that to qualify for a payment, $2,000 must be spent in one month between all customers who nominate your organisation, (excluding tobacco, gift cards, and phone recharges). The minimum payment is $10. There is no maximum, so the more people who nominate the organisation the better.
Your supporters just need to download the Ritchies Card app, or register a card online, and nominate your organisation.
Please contact emma.wilkinson@ritchies.com.au or penny.sayer@ritchies.com.au for further information, or if you would like us to provide you with marketing material and QR codes to assist with getting the word out to your community.
Did you know that children from Lumen Christi can access After School Care at Churchill North Primary School?
Children needing to use this service can catch a bus from the school and arrive at Churchill North PS where they will be met by a teacher and taken to the After School Program.
This is the only After School Care Program running in Churchill for all three primary schools.
Details of how to enrol are attached.
