Dear Families,
We had another fun filled week here at Lumen Christi last week. One of our highlights was having some of the riders from Tour de Cure come and visit us at our school and bring some fun packs for the children.
Our children were wonderfully behaved and asked really thoughtful and interesting questions to the riders who commented on the good behaviour of our children. This is so pleasing to see and I know all of the staff felt very proud of our children.
We are having our first whole school practices this week running through our school concert from start to finish. It’s starting to come together and we are looking forward to performing it for our families and friends. Tickets are on sale via CDF pay, if you have made a payment, tickets can be collected from the school office from Thursday.
We have begun our swimming program this week, which is a great opportunity for children to build water competence and skills so that they can swim safely and confidently over the summer months (if the summer weather ever gets here).
Next week is a busy wee at school with the end of year fun day at Mid Valley Village cinemas, the grade 6 shopping day, our end of year mass and nativity play and the Bethlehem Bazaar, which the Year 5 and 6 children have been working hard on creating their stalls and items for sale.
It is with great sadness that I announce that Italian at Lumen Christi will be coming to an end this year but I am pleased to announce that it will be replaced in 2023 with AUSLAN, which is a uniquely Australian sign language for people who are deaf or hearing impaired. It uses hand, arm and body movements to convey meaning and we are very excited to welcome Kristine Travers to our staff team who will be starting this program at our school next year. Kristine is an experienced teacher who has recently found a passion for AUSLAN and is very keen to be joining our Lumen Christi team in 2023. There will be more information in the newsletter explaining what AUSLAN is.
Have a wonderful week ahead,
Sally
