Dear Families,
Welcome back to the 2023 school year! It has been wonderful seeing all of the children come back to school today ready to start learning with their new class and teachers.
We welcome any new families to our community and we thank you for choosing Lumen Christi and trusting your child’s education with us.
I hope all of our families had a wonderful Christmas and that there was time for a restful break.
We are welcoming some new staff to our team this year:
Krissy Travers – AUSLAN
Carol Hanratty – PE
Nathan Power – Year 2/3 Teacher (Thursday and Friday)
And returning:
Anna Fahey – Art
Janelle Szkwarek – Music
Lauren Wilson – Library
In my second year here at Lumen Christi, I look forward to working hard with our staff and our children to continue the good work here at the school. I welcome parent feedback and thank those parents who ensure that they address any issues as they arise. Please feel free to contact me or your child’s teacher at any stage if there is something that needs to be discussed, we are always here to help and do our best.
A Student's Prayer for a New School Year
Lord Jesus, I ask for Your help as I begin this new school year.
Allow me to experience Your presence in the many blessings You put before me.
Open my eyes to the new challenges and exciting opportunities that this new school year brings.
Open my heart and mind to new friends and new teachers.
Give me a generous spirit to be enthusiastic with my studies and courage to accept new opportunities.
Help me to be attentive to my teachers and let me experience Your presence in my new friends.
Jesus, inspire me to do my best this year!
Amen
Again, welcome back everyone.
Have a wonderful week ahead.
Sally

Whole School Mass This Thursday 9:30am
Parents, Grandparents, Families and Friends are all warmly invited to our beginning of school year Mass this Thursday in the Church beginning at 9:30am.
We hope to see many of you there to celebrate with us.
We would like to thank those children and families who do a great job wearing the correct school uniform to school.
As a staff, we sat together and made some decisions about what our whole school expectations are around uniform.
The following decision were made:
- Children are expected to wear ALL BLACK shoes to school. We prefer these to be all leather/leather like school shoes. Trainer/Sneaker type school shoes are fine as long as they are all black - no white Nike ticks, no Adidas stripes etc.
- Sports uniforms and shoes should only be worn on sports days. We ask parents to support us in ensuring their child is dressed in the correct school uniform every day. ALL children will have PE on Thursdays and one other day, which will be communicated by your class teacher.
- We ask that only white and grey socks are worn to school. No multicoloured socks (eg: Santa Cruz) to be worn to school. Socks with a small black logo are okay but Santa Cruz socks are not appropriate for school due to their colourful logo.
Having high expectations for uniform is important to us at Lumen Christi. If families need any assistance with providing uniforms at all, please see Mrs Campbell.
New Soccer Goals - Thank You to all involved
I would like to personally thank the Lumen Christi Parents and Friends for organising and funding the purchase of our new soccer goals. These arrived part way through the school holidays and were put together by an amazing group of dads.
Thank you so much to Stephen Breheny, Adam Wookey, Pete Baudendistal and Mark Bianconi for putting together the goals and soccer nets which our kids are going to love. They look amazing!
Thank you to Churchill United Soccer Club for the loan of their line marker and to Traralgon Paints for donating the paint to mark the lines.
It is lovely to have this new facility at our school. Thank you again to all involved, our school is lucky to have such dedicated parents who are happy to put in the effort for our kids.
Sacrament Meeting ALL 2023 Sacrament Children
Just a reminder that there is a compulsory meeting for all children making a sacrament this year next Thursday, 9th February at 5pm in the Sacred Heart Church, Morwell.
This was communicated last year to our families.
Information about each sacrament will be given at this meeting as we will no longer be having the traditional Sacrament meetings throughout the year. Therefore attendance at this one meeting is compulsory.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank our parents who advocate positively for our school on Social Media forums and Community Notice Boards on Facebook.
Word of Mouth is really important for a small school like ours. I thank all of our parents who spread the word in our community about the great work our school and our staff do for our kids.
Thank you, this is very much appreciated.
