Dear Families,
We are heading into the last couple of weeks of term and like every term, we are all wondering where the time has gone!
Thank you to all of the parents who made an appointment and came to Parent Teacher Interviews last week. Overall, teachers felt very positive about meeting with parents and carers. The relationship between home and school is so important and we appreciate the support that we receive from our wonderful parent community here at our school.
For times when issues do arise, I will be sending home in the coming weeks a code of conduct for parents, teachers and students so that the process for raising concerns at school is well communicated to everyone. We understand that sometimes when our children are experiencing difficulties at school, it can be highly emotional for parents and carers and we know that it always comes from a place that demonstrates how much we love our kids. I have worked in schools for many years and the care that our teachers at Lumen Christi show for the children here is often above and beyond. Our teachers are always doing their best to make sure that the children here have the best learning opportunities – socially and academically – that they possibly can. We always want to work with our families to improve what we do, it is highly important to always keep the communication respectful so that we can understand each point of view and come to mutual agreement on what needs to be done next for the child, who is at the centre of all that we do.
This week we have a number of children in our school and wider Parish community celebrating the Sacrament of Reconciliation for the first time. It will be held at Sacred Heart at 5:30pm and all are welcome to come along and support. If you are not Catholic and your child would like to come along to celebrate with their classmates, you are very welcome to attend.
This week, we move into Holy Week in the lead up to Easter. It is Palm Sunday this week and I know the Parish warmly welcome all of our school families along. Easter is the most important time in our Catholic calendar as we prepare for the death and resurrection of Jesus.
A prayer…
Father God, thank You that Jesus came humbly, riding on a donkey, proclaiming peace. We pray for the peace of Jerusalem and for peace in our times. Make us instruments of your peace and guide us in the ministry of reconciliation. Our hearts bring loved ones to mind who have yet to acknowledge Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross for their own sins. May they find peace in You as we have, in Jesus’ name.
Amen
Have a wonderful week ahead,
Sally
