Dear Families,
We had a great first week back at school last week. It was lovely to see all of our children and hear about some of the fun things they did over the term break or that they just took the time to stay home and rest which is also a very good option.
You may notice that we have invested in some new school signage at the school. At the moment, the big sign on the corner has been replaced and there will be some other additions coming in the near future. Little by little we are trying to improve our school and ensure that what we present to our community reflects the quality of what happens here within our classrooms and yard where we have high expectations for learning and student behaviour.
We have our start of term mass here on Thursday morning at 9:30am in the church. All families are welcome to attend. It is lovely when we are well supported by our parent and grandparent community at mass. It is also Father James’ birthday, so if you come along, please wish him a wonderful day.
Parent Teacher Interviews are next week on Wednesday and Thursday afternoon after school. Please make a time on PAM with your child’s teacher/s. If you do not have access to PAM, please see Janelle or Jess in the office and they can help you.
Mr Clarke is also running a Dad’s night on Wednesday 2 nd August, so please make sure you RSVP to that ASAP. There will be a note going home in the coming weeks also if families do not have access to a printer to print off the invitation attached to this email.
On Sunday at Mass, the Gospel was “The Parable of the Sower” which Jesus told to the crowds at the Sea of Galilee in Matthew’s Gospel. He talks about the seeds that fell on the rocky ground or among thorns where the seeds did not have a chance to grow. He also talked about the seeds which fell on good soil which brought forth grain. In many ways, this parable is really symbolic of what we aim to
do here at Lumen Christi and in all Catholic schools. We aim to provide an environment in which our staff and students hear the stories of God, understand them within the context of our own lives and live by the example of the Gospel stories so that we can operate within our community as active, engaged, considerate and compassionate people.
Have a wonderful week ahead.
Sally
