Dear Families,
My goodness! Did everyone watch The Matildas in their match against France on Saturday night? What a nail biter of a game. A big game coming up tomorrow night in the semi-finals against England. Fingers and toes crossed we make it all the way to the World Cup final.
Our Lumen Christi basketballers are up first though on Wednesday, so we wish them the best of luck in their school comp and we know that no matter the outcome, they will represent our school showing our School Wide Expectations – Respect, Responsible and Resilient.
We had Meerkat Productions at school last Tuesday which the children enjoyed. A big thanks to Mrs Wilson in the Library for organising this.
Book Week is coming up next week. Remember that Monday 21st August is Dress Up Day, so we have one more weekend ahead to make sure we have our outfits ready. Remember, there is no need to buy anything special for the day. Costumes can come together with things we have already at home. Just come dressed as your favourite character from a book.
Thank you to all of our Grandparents who came along for Breakfast and Mass last week. It was a wonderfully attended event. It is always a pleasure to have our special family members here with us at school so that we can celebrate the important role they play in our children’s lives.
We will do this all again in a couple of weeks for Father’s Day – our Father’s Day breakfast will be on Thursday 31st August.
Our Prep, Grade 1s and Grade 2s are all off on their excursion to Gumbuya World on Friday. Please ensure students are at school on time on Friday and that you have ticked their permission form on PAM. We cannot take children without permission from parents so please ensure everything is organised so that nobody is disappointed.
Grades 3 to 6 will be heading off on Camps in Term 4 – more information will be coming from teachers soon.
This Friday is also National Day Against Bullying. I have attached our policies on bullying to this newsletter to highlight how we respond to this behaviour at Lumen Christi. It is important to remember that when your child experiences anything concerning at school, to please see your child’s teacher and encourage them to seek help. It is also important to remember that a child who is bullying others, is often asking for help and so it is our responsibility to be compassionate towards these children too. This doesn’t mean that there are no consequences for bullying behaviour, but it does mean that we put the dignity of the human person first.
Have a wonderful week ahead,
GO MATILDAS!!!!!
Sally

In honour of the Matilda’s making the World Cup semi-final – we want to celebrate by having a casual clothes day. If you have something AUSSIE themed you can wear that too!
To wear casual clothes, we would like families to donate to our “Give a Damn, Give a Can” cause. If you have already donated, thank you for your support and you can come to school in casual clothes – you don’t need to donate again.
If you have forgotten to send something along, it’s not too late. Wear your casual clothes tomorrow and add your canned food donation to the collection in the office!
CHANGE OF DATE - FIRST EUCHARIST FAMILIES
Unfortunately, we will need to change our First Eucharist date from the 15th October to a later Sunday. This change is to accommodate Father James' availability.
I apologise for the inconvenience to families who may have set this date in their calendars.
I will communicate the new date to families when it has been confirmed.
Keep the weekend of the 15th aside though as it will more than likely be a commitment mass date.
Again, my apologies for the change.
Sally
