Dear Families,
Firstly, I’d like to thank all of the dads and special people who came to the school on Friday for breakfast. It was so lovely to have our eco-centre buzzing once again with members of our school community and enjoying the morning with their children. I’d also like to thank our staff for working hard to make sure that it was a special morning – setting up the room, making pancakes and all the tidying up afterwards is lots of work so I thank our staff for the part they played in the morning also.I hope all of our dads had a wonderful day on Sunday and that your families looked after you.
Thank you also to our P&F group for running the Father’s Day stall – we couldn’t run these special days without our P&F.
Our basketballers competed last week in Traralgon, but were unlucky on the day. Unfortunately, this is the end of the road for the team, but we are very proud of how far they got in the competition and for representing our school with responsibility, Respect and Resilience. Thanks to Mr Watson for taking the team to Traralgon and all the organisation that went into the day for them.
Our F/1 children celebrated 100 Days of school last week. They all looked wonderful and participated in lots of fun activities on the day. Thank you to Miss Smith and the F/1 team for making this a special event for these children.
Last night, we had some children involved in “The Big Sing” in Traralgon. This was organised by Mrs Szkwarek and we thank her for all of the organisation that went into this for the children involved and hope it is a wonderful night. We often do so many things for our children who participate in Sports, it is fantastic to see children given the opportunity to take part in The Arts also.
A reminder that next week is the last week of school. We have footy day on Thursday the 15 th . This is also the last day of term. Please remember that school finishes at 3 pm on this day and there is no school on Friday 16 th September.
P&F are also running a hot dog lunch on this day – remember to order on time through CDF pay.
Next term, our children will be looking at scripture in RE through the lens of “Memorable Moments”. We will be focusing on the passage of scripture where Mary visits her cousin Elizabeth to tell her that she is having a baby. Elizabeth is also expecting a child at this time, who is also an important person in the story of Jesus. That person was John the Baptist. Many of the children won’t know this story, but we know that they all have Memorable Moments in their lives that they can connect to, like sharing the news of a new baby on the way, birthdays, sacraments, holidays and other special events that happen throughout their lives. Our job at Lumen Christi is to use these Bible stories and make them relatable to our lives today.
I know there will be many families hoping for a memorable moment for their footy team as the finals get underway this week. Good luck to those with a team in the finals.
Have a wonderful week ahead,
Sally
