Dear Parents and Families,
Last week we received some of the exciting details about our return to school. We have been given the dates of return and now we continue to work closely with the State Government and DOSCEL to put into place the systems and procedures required to ensure the long term safety of the students, staff as well as the continuation of school. I trust that as a community we can work together to ensure we meet and exceed these guidelines, so that we ensure we can continue to operate without an local outbreak forcing another closure on us. As more precise details come to hand they will be emailed to families and we ask parents to play particular attention to each of the details. Due to the restrictions around gatherings etc we are yet to confirm our plans for Playgroup and Cambo's Kitchen. We hope to get these two weekly favourites up and running as quickly as possible so again please keep an eye on our school communications.
Term 2 each year is the opportunity for the school welcome prospective families to visit Lumen Christi as they begin their child's transition from preschool to primary school. Already we have taken expressions of interest from potential new families to our school, and it has been pleasing to hear from these new parents the positive feedback they have received from existing families. Please continue to share the good news and if you know of any families planning on joining us in 2021 we ask you to invite them to make contact so we can include their child in the important transition activities that will start next term.
Last week our School Leadership Team had our annual meeting with the Learning & Teaching executive from DOSCEL. As a school we receive very positive feedback about our performance on many key indicators, as well as our plans for addressing improved student outcomes. Interestingly we are investigating ways to boost student independence and self-monitoring, so we are keen to see how remote learning has supported this when things go back to normal.
So enjoy this last stage of remote learning and we look forward to having everyone back very soon.
Take care,
Dave

MONDAY 8th JUNE: QUEEN'S BIRTHDAY PUBLIC HOLIDAY

As school returns we ask for support from parents to ensure that their children are in full winter uniform. We ask for students to only wear uniform items to school.
The Uniform Shop has good stock of items, including the very popular school beanies, as well as new and used school shoes. If you would like to purchase new items they are available via CDF-PAY link and if you purchase online during the week they should be ready for collection at Thursday's Learning Pack pickup session.
If you require any assistance please make contact with the office, Mr.Cooper or Mrs.Campbell.
Last Thursday we secured positions for Lumen Christi parents and guardians to attend the live webinar titled "CYBER SAFETY-RAISING KIDS IN A DIGITAL WORLD". The sessions is now available as a recording via the same link.
The presenters Carly and Martin are extremely popular and in normal circumstances due to our location and size, country schools like Lumen Christi often miss out on these opportunities. We received very positive feedback about how the session was a combination of eye-opening terror mixed in with some positive parenting and helpful tech tips. We strongly encourage all families to prioritise watching the clip to ensure that their children are safe, now and into the future - you won't regret it! Feeling more informed and more empowered are the goals of the session so we cannot recommend it more highly.
The session is password protected to only schools who have purchased access rights - this information is contained on the below flyer. We would like to reach out and thank our colleagues at the Diocese of Sale:Catholic Education Office for their efforts in coordinating this learning opportunity.
We continue to encourage parents to access the resources on the eSafety Commissioner website CLICK HERE
Please make sure you spend some time sharing the Kids Page with your child.

Learning for Life Scholarships
The Learning for Life Scholarships have again been offered to Lumen Christi families through a partnering agreement with The Smith Family. We have attached the flyer that explains the eligible criteria. These scholarships provide direct financial support to families to cover educational expenses, which we know have potentially escalated during the remote learning situation. If you are interested please contact Shelley via the details on the flyer, or by making contact with Mr.Cooper and Mrs.Campbell at school.
The application process is rather simple and we are happy to support parents complete the one page application form.
Nationally Consistent Collection of Data [NCCD]
What is the Nationally Consistent Collection of Data?
Schools must now complete the Nationally Consistent Collection of Data on School Students with Disability (NCCD) every year. It counts the number of students who receive additional adjustments or “help” at school because of a disability. The NCCD helps governments plan for the needs of students with disability.
Please read the attached Parent Information Sheet for more details:
