Dear Families,
Welcome back to the 2024 school year! It has been wonderful seeing all of the children come back to school over the past week, ready to start learning with their new class and teachers.
We welcome all of our new families to our community and we thank you for choosing Lumen Christi and trusting your child’s education with us.
I hope all of our families had a wonderful Christmas and that there was time for a restful break.
We are welcoming some new staff to our team this year:
Kristie Smith – Learning Adjustment Leader and Classroom Teacher (F/1)
James Mulry – Classroom Teacher (3/4)
Charli Rohde – Learning Support Officer (4/5/6)
And returning:
Kylie Yeates – Classroom Teacher (2/3 on Thursdays)
I look forward to working hard with our staff and our children to continue the good work we have been doing here at the school over the past couple of years. I always welcome parent feedback and thank those parents who ensure that they address any issues as they arise. Please feel free to contact me or your child’s teacher at any stage if there is something that needs to be discussed, we are always here to help and do our best.
A Student's Prayer for a New School Year
Lord Jesus, I ask for Your help as I begin this new school year.
Allow me to experience Your presence in the many blessings You put before me.
Open my eyes to the new challenges and exciting opportunities that this new school year brings.
Open my heart and mind to new friends and new teachers.
Give me a generous spirit to be enthusiastic with my studies and courage to accept new opportunities.
Help me to be attentive to my teachers and let me experience Your presence in my new friends.
Jesus, inspire me to do my best this year!
Amen

Addison Russell- Lumen Christi's Young Student Citizen of the Year

Our Beginning of the year mass is on this Thursday 8th March, a time where we come together as a school at the church to welcome everyone to a new school year, especially our Grade Prep students and their families. It is at 9:30am at Lumen Christi Church and we warmly invite parents and families to join us.
School Advisory Committee - Parents Wanted
We have a wonderful group of parents who meet once a term as the School Advisory Committeee.
The purpose of this group is to provide parent perspective to school decisions made by myself as the Principal.
We usually meet once a term on a Tuesday night at 7pm for an hour.
It's a great way for working parents to be involved if they aren't able to support in other ways during the day.
If this might interest you as a parent, I'd love to hear from you!
Please email me directly at: sdarby@churchill.catholic.edu.au
Or phone the office to speak with me on 51 222231
A friendly to all of our families that we are asking for each family to bring to school one box of tissues per child.
This will help us during the winter months as sneezes and colds become more present in classrooms.
This is an item that we ususally request that families provide which was unfortunately left off of our back to school items last year.
We thank you for your cooperation.
A great start to the year - it is great to see everyone in the correct school uniform.
For those children opting to wear the skort, a reminder that it is a green skort. Black skirts and shorts on PE days only (Thursdays and Fridays).
Please remember that correct school uniform is black leather school shoes or all black leather runners with no coloured logos.
Car Park Safety
Parents and Carers might have noticed that we now have a teacher on duty on the Car Park every night after school. This is to ensure the safety of our children in that very busy 5-10 minutes when children are making their way to their cars to go home. Our parents are very responsible in the carpark, so I do thank everyone for their care whilst driving in and out of the school at pick up time. We wanted to add that extra layer of supervision to try and reduce the risk of any accidents occurring further.
Safer Internet Day
Today is Safer Internet Day! The following link takes parents to a website that provides exert advice on how to ensure child safety online. Online gaming and social media platforms are becoming a part of the every day lives of our children - it's our job to make sure our children are safe and act responsibly online.
