Dear Families,
Well, what an interesting week we had last week. I’d like to thank all of our families for their understanding last Wednesday when we were unable to open and making last minute arrangements. With no power, internet or phonelines and very limited mobile service, we felt it was in the best interests of the children to remain at home. Had there been an emergency at school, this would have been unsafe with very limited means for communicating. Luckily, we got our power back on Thursday and things could go back to normal. I hope that our families have all got their power
restored and life back to normal. It goes to show how lucky we are living in this country where most of the time, we don’t have to worry about power, internet, phone or access to hot water.
We have a sacrament workshop this week for ALL families with a student making a sacrament this year (Reconciliation, Eucharist or Confirmation). This is the only meeting like this families will be asked to attend. There will be information about each of the sacraments and important dates to put in diaries. It is on Wednesday 21 st February at Sacred Heart Church Morwell starting at 5:30pm.
Thank you also to all of the families and friends who came along to our “Ash Thursday” Mass last week. It’s wonderful to have so much support in our community and again, we thank everyone for their resilience during mass where we had no power and therefore no music.
We also launched our Project Compassion project. Each class has a Project Compassion box for children to donate generously during this time. Project Compassion 2024 reminds us that the good we do today will extend and impact the lives of generations to come. Together we can help vulnerable communities face their challenges today and build a better tomorrow for all future generations. Project Compassion raises money through Caritas Australia to support communities around the world to tackle poverty, food security, education, water supply and sanitation and disaster risk reduction. We encourage students to pop a coin in when they can to participate in this social justice initiative. Families can also donate online at:

Prayer – Invite us Deeper
Almighty and ever living God,
You invite us deeper into your world, your people, your Lent.
May this time be one of outward focus;
Seeking you in those we often ignore.
Help us live a Lent focused on freedom, generosity and encounter.
Give us hearts hungry to serv you and those who need what we have to give.
Have a wonderful week ahead,
Sally

What an awsome achievement Hunter!
Acceptable Use of IT Agreement
Each year, we would like families to revisit with their child/children what it means to use ICT responsibly and respectfully and safely here at school.
It's a really impoprtant part of our child safety protocols that we address online safety as well as the safety in our physical environment.
This ICT agreement will be coming home with students this week and we would like for parents/carers to read and sign the last page and return it to school by Friday.
Many thanks for your help and cooperation
Car Park Safety
Parents and Carers might have noticed that we now have a teacher on duty on the Car Park every night after school. This is to ensure the safety of our children in that very busy 5-10 minutes when children are making their way to their cars to go home. Our parents are very responsible in the carpark, so I do thank everyone for their care whilst driving in and out of the school at pick up time. We wanted to add that extra layer of supervision to try and reduce the risk of any accidents occurring further.

School Advisory Committee - Parents Wanted
We have a wonderful group of parents who meet once a term as the School Advisory Committeee.
The purpose of this group is to provide parent perspective to school decisions made by myself as the Principal.
We usually meet once a term on a Tuesday night at 7pm for an hour.
It's a great way for working parents to be involved if they aren't able to support in other ways during the day.
If this might interest you as a parent, I'd love to hear from you!
Please email me directly at: sdarby@churchill.catholic.edu.au
Or phone the office to speak with me on 51 222231
A friendly to all of our families that we are asking for each family to bring to school one box of tissues per child.
This will help us during the winter months as sneezes and colds become more present in classrooms.
This is an item that we ususally request that families provide which was unfortunately left off of our back to school items last year.
We thank you for your cooperation.
Parents & Friends - Zooper Doopers are BACK!
Our P&F have organised to sell Zooper Doopers again at school this term.
They will be available on Tuesdays and Thursdays at lunchtimes. Icy poles will also be available on Fridays when the weather is hot.
The cost will be 50c. each.
