Dear Families,
Welcome back for the last term of the year. I hope everyone had a restful break – even though many parents are still working during school holidays, a break from routine (I love not having to organise school lunches myself) can be nice too.
A letter went home yesterday with some key Term 4 dates for families. We update the Term dates each week here in the newsletter, so please make sure that you check these dates regularly.
Some Term 4 Reminders…
Hats – It is now time for hats to be at school every day. We allow the children a week to get their hat organised. I have asked that all children have a hat by Friday – after this time children will be asked to stay in an undercover area during breaktimes.
Uniform – The uniform options for Terms 1 and 4 are as follows:
Grey shorts, school polo top
Green Skort, school polo top
Summer dress
On sports days all children can wear black shorts and their school polo top. Sports days are Thursdays and Fridays only.
Black school shoes are to be worn on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays.
Sports shoes can be worn on Thursdays and Fridays.
October is World Mission Month and as a Catholic School we endeavour to put Catholic Social Teaching in action to plan moments of giving to others in need. We will be holding a Crazy Socks Day to raise money for Catholic Missions, this will be on the 31st October.
On Thursday it is World Mental Health day. It is good to raise awareness about mental health, which affects all of us, including children. Some families may have seen that we will be joining The Resilience Project here at Lumen Christi in 2025. The aim of this program is to help our children respond to setbacks and life’s ups and downs so that they have the tools to respond when things are difficult, which are often the things that can impact our mental health negatively. This is a really exciting new addition to our school, which we are looking forward to sharing with our whole school community next year.
Have a wonderful week ahead,
Sally

A reminder about student attendance. Parents have a legal responsibility to ensure their child attends school regularly. At Lumen Christi, the optimal attendance rate is 90% or higher. We love to see our children at school and learning with their friends.
When attendance falls below 90% (not due to illness) with no explanation, we are required to follow up with families as per our DOSCEL policies and procedures. In some cases, we may have to report absences to DOSCEL to ensure that we are meeting our legal obligations as a school.
If your family or your child needs support in ensuring regular attendance at school, we are here to help. Please do not hesitate to contact your child's teacher or Mrs Darby so that we can ensure all of our children are at school, learning and socialising with their peers.
