Dear Families,
Last week’s newsletter had a couple of technical hitches – and I wanted to make sure that some of our Athletics Day helpers were properly acknowledged.
Athletics Day can’t run without people to help – so thank you to any parent who stepped up to help on the day, to Tania Wookey for helping to mark the lines and move the High Jump mattress and to Jo Cardillo for organising the donation of a brand new barbeque for the school.
A HUGE thank you to our P&F team who did a brilliant job organising a sausage sizzle on the day which I know all of the children enjoyed. We are very lucky to have such a dedicated group of parents who are so generous with their time.
This week, our children in Years 3 and 5 are finishing up their NAPLAN assessments. They have done a wonderful job being very resilient and doing their best in what can sometimes feel for a students a stressful situation. We are proud of them all for giving it their best shot.
Tomorrow night we have our Year 4 Eucharist Night – remember that this is for all Year 4s to take part in. Although only a few Year 4s will make the sacrament on the 30th March, this is an event for everyone to celebrate. As a Catholic School, we have a duty to teach all aspects of Church Life and Traditions to all of our students. Please come along and enjoy some Pizza for dinner, we would love to see all Year 4 families there.
Parent Teacher Interviews are next week on Wednesday and Thursday. Please ensure that you have booked your sessions on PAM. Janelle or Krystelle in the office can assist families who need help to do this.
District Athletics is next Friday for participating students only. Please ensure that children have permission to attend.
This week we have:
- Uniform Free Day and bring an easter donation Wednesday (tomorrow)
- Harmony Day Breakfast and wear a touch of Orange on Friday.
Have a wonderful week ahead,
Sally

At Lumen Christi we have our first sacrament coming up very soon on the 30th March
As a school community we pray for:
Joshua Sheary
Thomas Breheny
Esmae Fairbrother
Nils Schelfhout
Emmanuel Ryan
Erin Robinson
These students had their 2nd commitment mass on the weekend and received a special mass book. They have another commitment mass this weekend where they will receive their pin to go on their stole which they wear at the Sacrament.
All students preparing for their First Eucharist will need to be at one of our parish masses THIS WEEKEND, ready up the back, wearing the gold sash they are given and ready to process in with Father at the start of mass.
GRADE 4 FAMILY NIGHT
THIS WEDNESDAY NIGHT we have our GRADE 4 EUCHARIST NIGHT which is a night for ALL GRADE 4 students to attend. It includes the children re-enacting the events of the last supper and sharing a meal together of pizza with their special family member. This will be held at school on Wednesday 19th March from 5:30 - 6:30pm.
Last year this was a really well attended event and our students really enjoyed it. The idea is for students to demonstrate this Sacrament in action and will be a whole Year 4 celebration so that the children receiving the sacrament are supported by their peers and the wider community in their preparation for their First Eucharist. Details about this event have come home over the last few weeks, please fill out the slip and bring it back to the office as soon as possible.
Please dont hesitate to contact the school if you have any questions about the information given above. (jszkwarek@churchill.catholic.
Anzac Badges Have arrived and can be purchased from the office.
Prices range from $1.00 to $10.
Caritas Australia Project Compassion
PROJECT COMPASSION 2025
This Lent, we are called to Unite Against Poverty through Caritas Australia’s Project Compassion. By taking home a Project Compassion donation box (which came home on Friday last week), you’ll be helping to answer the Gospels’ call to care for our global family and walk alongside the most vulnerable.
This term students will be learning about Project Compassion and Caritas and the many ways they help people all over the world. Each classroom and child has a project compassion box and we encourage you at home to try and find some loose change to pop in your box, maybe go without that all-important coffee from the shop for 1 day and pop the money in the box instead, or your children might like to think of ways they can give something up (like a treat) and put the money in their project compassion box instead, or earn a few dollars by doing a job for someone and putting the money in the box. We will collect the boxes at the end of the term.
We have a Whole School Project Compassion fundraiser at the end of the term called "The great water walk" so keep your eyes out in the newsletter for more information in the coming weeks.
Your generous support this Lenten Season will enable Caritas Australia to provide life-changing support to communities facing poverty, food insecurity, lack of education, and water shortages, while building resilience against future challenges. Together, through faith and action, we can bring hope and opportunity to those most in need.
