What's Happening ..... and what's not!
With our return to school under COVID restrictions we have been advised to review our Learning Enrichment and other school events. It feels like we have spent the year being pushed into a corner and being forced to cancel-cancel-cancel events, but the tide has turned and we can begin to be a little more optimistic.
The current simple rule is that we are restricted from having any visitors or parents on site. This rules out the obvious things like playgroup, special food days, incursions ..... at the moment.
CAMPS:
Our Camp program is one of the highlights of the year for both staff and students so we were devastated with the cancellation of the Year 5/6 camp planned for earlier in the year, while we were preparing for the Year 3/4 camp also to be cancelled by the camp provider. However, we have been given permission to plan one combined camp for our Years 3 to 6 students, with the school working heavily with DOSCEL and the camp to ensure we are compliant to a significant number of external regulations. The guidelines we must adhere to include restricting ourselves to limited travel for ourselves as well as the camp staff, and we also have to have exclusive access for our school at the camp. We have been able to secure an extended booking at Allambee at Trafalgar, where the Year 5/6's can still have a three day camp and the 3/4's two days as planned. The proposed dates we are working on are Wed 18th-Fri 20th Nov (Year 3/4 Thu-Fri). As details come to hand we will communicate immediately with families.
SCHOOL PHOTOS:
We have received notification that school photos can happen as long as we meet some COVID-19 safe rules. At the moment the guidelines permit individual and family photos, with the class photo being replaced with a collage of individual photos. It is likely this may change before our scheduled photo day which is FRIDAY 13th November. John Ansell Photography will be distributing the photo forms to families soon.
SACRAMENT PROGRAM:
The sacrament program is still in a holding pattern until the State Government again allows faith communities back into their places of worship. Once we have access to the Church we can then quickly respond with a schedule of prioritising First Communion and Confirmation, with Reconciliation highly likely to be postponed to 2021.
TRANSITION:
Our Transition program for our 2021 recruits has been communicated to families with enrolled children. It is also located on the school website.
GRADUATION:
The current guidelines would have our normal graduation/end of year routine unable to be conducted. We would hope that health guidelines ease in the months beforehand so that we can conduct our regular celebrations. In terms of planning we anticipate that the Year 6 final day and graduation event will take place on Thursday 10th December.
Just a reminder to families to remember to contact the office via phone or the school app/website to notify us if you child is away or is running late so that we can update our attendance records. Families are also encouraged to contact us prior to a planned absence (eg.appointments) so we can pre-record absent days.
With the new school office now being available to parents, any late arrivals or early dismissals can be done via the iPad in the reception foyer.
As school returns we ask for support from parents to ensure that their children are in full summer uniform or sports uniform on the correct days. We ask for students to only wear uniform items to school.
Also a reminder that in Term 4 all students need to wear a school hat.
The Uniform Shop has good stock of items, including new and used school shoes. If you would like to purchase new items they are available via CDF-PAY link and when we return make contact with us about your uniform needs.
We appreciate your support in ensuring all children are in uniform.
