Congratulations to the children receiving the sacrament of First Holy Communion tonight. Sacraments are opportunities to encounter God, and we pray that this special celebration supports and inspires these young people to live the Lumen Christi Parish Vision of 'being the light of Christ to all people'.
The image below is a painting by Seiger Koder. Fr.Koder was a German Priest and secondary school art teacher. His art depicts his interpretation of how he saw his priestly duties to respond to the message of the Gospel. In this painting of the Last Supper the character of Jesus is absent however the viewer is placed in a position of Jesus with our outstretched hands and reflection in the chalice prompting us to be more Christ-like. We pray for our communion children as they have this opportunity to be reminded about being the Light of Christ.
Remembrance Day is always a special day at Lumen Christi, and this year once again our senior students led our service beautifully. Embracing the need to use video conferencing actually added something different to this year's event, while the commemorative part of the ceremony held outside in our Centenary of ANZAC Garden was very moving.
Many hands do make light work and our day was supported by many people who contributed in lots of important ways, from classroom staff and students through to Tania who has nurtured the Gallipoli Roses for months ensuring that they were in full bloom today.
"They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old;
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them."
Just a reminder to families to remember to contact the office via phone or the school app/website to notify us if you child is away or is running late so that we can update our attendance records. Families are also encouraged to contact us prior to a planned absence (eg.appointments) so we can pre-record absent days.
With the new school office now being available to parents, any late arrivals or early dismissals can be done via the iPad in the reception foyer.
