Dear Families,
With today's announcement we celebrate our return to face-to-face learning. Attached to this newsletter is the letter that details this return.
In a sense the fact that we slipped back into a short circuit breaker lock-down did not come as a surprise and we probably need to be aware that it will likely happen again. This time around it was really noticeable how much more resilient and adaptable we have become as a community, and this increased calmness by the adults would have had a significant impact on how successfully our children were able to cope. It was so comforting to hear how different families prepared and coped with this lock-down - simple things like having a new pencil case or new jigsaw puzzle ready to go made such a big difference. I also hope you managed to consider ways you could continue to support the local Churchill businesses this week by buying a milkshake, pie, pizza, parma or sandwich. The life-long lessons we can share with our children during these challenging times about our sense of community will be so important.
I would like to publicly thank and acknowledge the tremendous work undertaken by the school leadership team during the past weeks leading into, and during, the lock-down, while also recognising the work ethic and professionalism of the teachers and support staff. Their combined efforts to quickly switch to Remote Learning was fantastic, with the lessons learnt from previous lock-down guiding our decision making. A significant decision was to quickly re-establish the morning Google Meets while also reducing the amount of 'busy work' that overwhelmed families.
At the moment there are no specific school rules but I ask for your support in maintaining the government specified rules that we have to abide by in Regional Victoria.
I'm looking forward to seeing all our students back on deck on Friday, and hopefully the days away from each other has helped rid our systems of the illness that was hanging around these past few weeks.
Take care,
Dave
