Dear Parents, Guardians and Carers,
Thank you to everyone for your support today.
I sincerely hope that you are safe and have not suffered any significant damage to property due to the heavy rain and consequential flooding. However, should you have been seriously impacted by the weather and flood damage please contact us so we can provide whatever support we can.
There were a number of impacts on the school today that resulted in the decision to cancel classes and to ask that students return home. A significant factor was that a large number of our staff either could not get into Churchill, or had to return home before being cut-off by flood waters. I appreciate that you understand today’s decision, but I do express my gratitude for that support.
In consultation with Diocese of Sale, Catholic Education Limited, it has been decided that: Friday, 11 June 2021, will be a SCHOOL CLOSURE DAY.
This decision places the safety of our students, families and staff as our highest priority. Other considerations include the heavily reduced availability of staff for tomorrow, the unknown condition of the roads and local environment, as well as uncertainty around the availability of utilities (telephone, power and water) to the school and surrounding areas.
By making a decision this evening we ensure that families and staff have adequate time to make arrangements rather than be put under pressure tomorrow morning.
Once again I thank you for your support. Take care, stay safe.
Yours sincerely,
David Cooper
