Dear Families and Friends,
Welcome back to Term 3. I hope everyone had an opportunity to enjoy the break from the routines of school life and are ready to take full advantage of the opportunities of this term.
This week we have commenced using the SIMON/PAM platform which offers us improved efficiency for many of the administrative tasks between home, the school office and our classrooms. Families will have access now top attendance, medical forms, Parent-Teacher bookings and permission notes. Can we ask all parents to make sure that they have made time to add in the medical details for each of their children as well as booked a P/T Interview time for next week and given permission for your children to participate in the Kaboom Sports Olympic Day. If you are having any issues with this please reach out to the office staff or myself. Like all new systems, it is only good if people are using it so we urge you to please become familiar with the platform - the risk of not using it means you will miss critical information about your child and the school.
At the moment we are gaining a little more independence from the reduced COVID restrictions being made operational in Victoria. A key re-scheduled event is Confirmation which is now taking place on Saturday 24th July at 5pm. We joyfully await the arrival of the Holy Spirit for these patient Confirmation candidates.
Yesterday the teaching staff attending a professional learning session after work at Sacred Heart in Morwell to learn more about the Diocese of Sale 'Sexuality Education in the Catholic School' document that supports teachers implement the curriculum covered in the Victorian Curriculum documents. This work also links nicely with the content staff address in our Protective Behaviours program as part of our Child Safety practices here at Lumen Christi.

Catholic School Parents Victoria- eSafety Webinar
Earlier this year CSPV conducted research of parents to understand areas of concern for them when it comes to their children's learning. One of the areas of concern was online safety. The eSafety Commissioner provides opportunities for parents to be more engaged in their children's safety online through a series of webinars on specific topics that are challenging for parents to monitor and manage.
Please share this information with your parent network as they begin term 3 to support them in their efforts to keep their children safe online.
eSafety’s parent guide to online sexual harassment and image-based abuse
Free webinar for parents and carers of secondary school students
1 in 3 young women and 1 in 5 young men have experienced online sexual harassment. When young people experience this type of online harassment and abuse it can have serious impacts. This webinar is designed for parents and young people to attend together to learn how to report and where to go for support.

Grade 5/6 are continuing to learn about the importance of healthy eating during our OzHarvest unit. In the last week of term we made delicious French Toast which was thoroughly enjoyed by all of Grade 5/6 and the teachers.
Here is the recipe to try at home:
French Toast
Serves 5
Ingredients:
- 5 slices of wholemeal bread
- 2 eggs
- 1 teaspoon of vanilla essence
- ½ cup of reduced fat milk
- 3 tablespoons of olive oil
- 1 banana sliced to serve
*optional - 1 tablespoon of cinnamon/sugar mix to serve
Method:
- In a large bowl, mix egg, vanilla essence and milk with a fork until well combined.
- Heat oil in a non-stick frying pan over medium heat.
- Dip each slice of bread in the egg wash until coated on both sides and put straight into the frypan.
- Cook for 2-3 minutes each side until golden and it separates easily from the frypan. If the bread is sticking to the pan, cook a bit longer.
- Transfer to a plate and serve plain or with sliced banana and cinnamon/sugar mix.
