Dear Families and Friends,
Well, well, well.
I actually had this week's newsletter written and I was going to offer my encouragement to all our students, families and staff as we began our sixth version of Remote Learning but in a surprise here we all are back at school. Again I can only commend the efforts of everyone as we continue to pivot as we respond to changes in our COVID settings across the state.
As everyone is well aware, at the moment we are heavily restricted by changes and rules about what we can and cannot do. Essentially we have had to press pause on school activities and events until restrictions ease. Again I thank everyone in our Lumen Christi community for the realistic approach we have been forced to adopt. Interestingly it is the students leading the way as they accept the frustration of events being cancelled - the poor soccer squad has been hit three times while Confirmation still is yet to be celebrated.
So I'll keep it short and sweet. Take care and fingers crossed we don't welcome Remote Learning Version #7 any time soon!
Dave
This week students have been learning about the life and work of Saint Mary MacKillop. As well as many class room activities students took part in a special online Litrugy to celebrate her feast day which took place on the 8th of August.
A Prayer for Saint Mary of the Cross MacKillop
Patron Saint of Australia
Ever Generous God, You inspired Saint Mary MacKillop.
To live her life faithful to the Gospel of Jesus Christ
and constant in bringing hope and encouragement
to those who were disheartened, lonely or needy.
With confidence in your generous providence and through the intercession of Saint Mary Mackillop.
We ask that you grant our request......(name your request) We ask that our faith and hope be fired afresh by the Holy Spirit so that we too,
like Mary MacKillop, may live with courage, trust and openness.
Ever generous God hear our prayer.
We ask this through Jesus Christ. Amen.
Please take note of these dates for your family calendar

Kids Co-Designing Healthy Places Latrobe
Latrobe City Council are currently developing the next Municipal Public Health and Wellbeing plan and we want children and young people in Latrobe to have their voices heard.
One way we are doing this, is through an online toolkit that includes a survey and a quick audit. Children and young people in Latrobe are being asked to complete the survey (which will only take 10 minutes) and then either take photos, draw a picture, write a poem or write a list of words about your neighbourhood as a word cloud (there are examples of audit submissions in the online toolkit).
These survey results and audit submissions will then be discussed with children and young people in Latrobe as part of a co-design process of creating healthy places in Latrobe.
The toolkit is designed for children and young people aged 5-18 years. The survey and audit is currently open, and will close on Monday 16th August 2021.
Here is the link for the toolkit https://kidscodesigninghealthyplaces.com.au/toolkit/9f4dce8ebfc88a0d0e83124247d7e7c3
Competition Time!
By completing the survey and/or audit, each child will go into the draw to win 1 of 3 prizes:
- First Prize: $70 Jump and Climb Voucher (Combo Giftcards x 2)
- Second Prize: $60 Wheelz World (Stadium 34 Moe) Voucher
- Third Prize: $50 Wyncity Voucher
If you have any questions about the toolkit, please don’t hesitate to contact Alisha Brooks (0437 189 320) or Audrey Matthews (0428 179 784).
