Dear Families
As you will be aware, the State of Victoria has once again announced we will switch back into Lock-down settings until next Thursday night. Even though we probably anticipated that Remote Learning 5.0 would not be the last lock-down I'm sure you are like me and a little surprised that it happened so quickly. As a positive though we feel like our staff, students and families will be able to quickly re-connect with the Remote Learning procedures.
Again, as a community we were faced with very little notice of this lock-down and an out-of-hours announcement certainly complicates things from a school organisational point. Can I thank the staff for their adaptability over the past few hours.
This morning the staff onsite have prepared the school devices to be collected while the teaching staff are set to go with the daily Google Meets and Learning Portal work tasks from 9am. We encourage parents to listen in while children are participating in the google Meets as the teachers will be providing explanations around the Learning Portal tasks for the day. During the day parents can follow along and check each child's Google account to see what tasks have been assigned and hopefully completing. We have had a few chuckles with some parents who, as they become more familiar with how work is assigned, are finding out that their children might be trying a new online version of "the dog ate my homework". If you would like to speak to your child's teacher about how their child is coping or participating during Remote Learning please contact the school or email the classroom teacher.
Onsite supervision will again be offered to students who cannot be supervised at home because their parents are essential workers who work in school hours and have no other supervision options, or are deemed vulnerable by the DHHS guidelines. Parents requiring this must complete the attached eForm as soon as possible so I can try to secure enough staff. We ask for your support in recognising that this is only in the case of extreme need and acknowledge the pressure we have to restrict the onsite attendance of both staff and students to a minimum. We ask parents to collect children as soon as they are able to and not simply wait until 3pm.
Attached as part of this newsletter are the eForms for:
[1] Onsite Attendance
[2] Borrowing Devices. Please note that devices are ready for collection from the school office.
This situation again reinforces how important it is for families to be registered for school emails via Schoolzine and be linked in to the SIMON/PAM platform. Again we ask families to keep an eye on your inboxes.
The school website offers resources around Remote Learning, Online Safety, Mental Health & Crisis Support and IT resources. Please take some time to look around to see what is on offer. If you think we could add something extra please let us know.
Take care, stay safe - get vaccinated!
