State Government Announcement: Lockdown 6B
Dear Parents, Guardians, and Carers
In light of the growing coronavirus (COVID-19) growing outbreak in Victoria, The Hon. Daniel Andrews, Premier of Victoria, announced yesterday, that Regional Victoria will be placed in lockdown from 1.00 pm Saturday , 21 August 2021, until at least 11.59pm on Thursday, 2 September 2021.
The Hon. James Merlino announced yesterday that to allow teachers and school support staff prepare, Monday, 23 August 2021 will be a pupil free day in Regional Victoria. However, children of essential workers and vulnerable students will be supervised. Therefore from Tuesday, 24 August to Thursday, 2 September 2021 (inclusive), Lumen Christi will re-commence remote learning. This means that all students who can learn from home must learn from home. Students will access work via Google Classroom as has become our practice in Remote Learning.
Parents/guardians and carers may send their children to school from Monday, 23 August where (PLEASE NOTE – New Criteria):
- Children of essential workers who are both unable to work from home and have an Authorised Worker permit to allow them to work away from home;
- where there are two parents, guardians or carers, both must be essential workers, working outside the home
- for single parents, guardians or carers, the essential worker must be working outside the home
- students are vulnerable including:
- children in out-of-home care
- children deemed by Child Protection and/or Family Services to be at risk of harm
- children identified by the school as vulnerable (including via referral from a family violence agency, homelessness or youth justice service or mental health or other health services).
- Special circumstances as negotiated with the school
These are very clear guidelines regarding who is able to access on-site supervision. The intent behind this measure is to ensure the safety of staff and students in schools by limiting who can attend, so it is not possible for all staff and students to be at school at this time. Accordingly, those supervising at school are not staff or teachers that your children would typically work with, so please take this in to account. Please note the permit system becomes operational from Tuesday to allow employers and employees adequate time to coordinate the administration of permits.
FACE MASKS have become recommended for primary school students and therefore we encourage children to wear them. For everyone aged 12+ they remain mandatory outdoors and indoors (not at home) unless an exception applies – this includes all workplaces, and secondary schools.
SCHOOL DEVICES will be available from 12.00pm Monday once you have completed the attached eForm.
I appreciate that this is a very challenging time for all in our community and your cooperation with the remote learning program is very much appreciated.
During this difficult time, we must all take care to support one another. Our thoughts and prayers continue to be with those who may be unwell, and those who are working to keep our community safe.
If you require further information or support, please contact the school
