From Mrs Darby
Dear Families,
This will be our final newsletter for 2023 and I’d like to take the time to thank all of our families for their ongoing support this year. I’d also like to thank our amazing teachers and dedicated staff for all of their hard work with our children this year. The end of the year always creates the space to sit back and reflect on just how far we’ve come as a school and I can, hand on heart say, that we’ve spent our time well, we’ve focused on the right things that have an impact on learning and our children have benefitted from the work that we’ve put in. I hope that, in the majority of cases, this is reflected in student reports that will be coming home on Thursday.
Last week, we farewelled our Year 6 students and celebrated with them and their families at their graduation. It was a lovely celebration and I know that all of the staff and families felt extremely proud of the lovely young people they are. Good luck to all of them on their transition days and as they move on to secondary school.
Today, children have spent some time in their 2024 classes with their new teachers, which has been an exciting day for everyone. We have welcomed our new Foundation students and some new families across the school also, which is lovely to see.
On Thursday, we have our end of year mass and our whole school fun day at the movies. Our Year 6s will also return for their Year 6 lunch celebration.
I am starting to see children come into school with Christmas Cards and gifts for their teachers and myself. Thank you so much everyone for your generosity and kindness. We love what we do and we love working with your children. Gifts are not necessary; however, it is a lovely gesture to acknowledge that what we do is appreciated by our families.
I’d like to take this opportunity to wish all of our families a wonderful Christmas and that families will have the opportunity to spend some time together with friends and loved ones over the summer break.
Please take care if you are setting off on the roads or to the beaches this summer. We want all of our children and their families to stay safe.
Christmas is a magical time for children and a very important time for us as a Catholic community. Amidst presents, naughty little elves that cause trouble around your houses each day and all the celebrations, let us remember that as a Catholic community we are waiting and preparing for Jesus to come and be with us.
A reminder that school finishes this Friday 15th December at 3pm.
School returns for ALL students on Wednesday 31st January, 2024.
A very happy and holy Christmas to everyone.
On behalf of all of the staff at Lumen Christi, I thank you all again for being such a great community and look forward to seeing our families back and well rested in 2024.
Enjoy the break,
Sally
